This post is from LAFD Chief Rico A Gross:
It is with a mix of gratitude and excitement that I formally announce my transition from the role of Disaster Preparedness Officer for the Los Angeles Fire Department, effective September 8th. I am honored to introduce my successor, Captain Santino “Sonny ” Marcione, who will be stepping into this vital role.
Captain Marcione brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our department. I have no doubt he will continue to uphold and elevate the standards we’ve set for disaster preparedness, access and functional needs, incident planning, and mitigation. As you extended your wisdom, guidance, and collaboration to me, I kindly ask that you do the same for Captain Marcion, as he leads us through the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Please take the time to introduce yourself directly to Sonny.
While I am thrilled to share that I have been promoted to Battalion Chief in the downtown area, I want you to know that I remain available to support you however I can. I look forward to continuing our work together in new and evolving capacities.
Lastly, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you for the mentorship, guidance, and friendships we’ve built over the years. These relationships have been instrumental in my growth, and I look forward to many more shared successes in the future.
With appreciation and respect,
Rico A Gross, Battalion Chief
