At times the LAFD CERT Team has been activated for very specific tasks….always masked, distanced in their interaction with the public and LAFD.  Here are some examples from Chin Thammasaengsri, South Bureau Coordinator:

UPDATE STRUCTURE FIRE KNOCKDOWN 01/15/2021 INC#1012

Along with the warmer temperatures, came requests for CERT Hydration operations at the scene of fires in Los Angeles. This one took place in the Harvard Heights section of Los Angeles (Pico & Normandie). Your CERT team was honored to be a part of the effort.

PS – After being released from the incident, we happened upon a “Still Alarm” which was a woman suffering from “difficult breathing.” We radioed it into Metro, got some of the firefighters working the structure fire, and assisted as needed until the dispatched RA arrived.

UPDATE STRUCTURE FIRE 01/16/2021 INC#0707

Warmer than normal temperatures carried into the weekend. LAFD CERT was called in to hydrate crews working a wind driven structure/brush fire in Reseda. Chin Thammasaengsri & Terrence Gomes, aboard CE 59, came from West L.A. to handle the task. The team hydrated crews over the course of three separate streets where operations were taking place.

Update Structure Fire; INC#0707; 02:00PM; 18227 W Elkwood St; https://bit.ly/2LuHJgf; Reseda; The fire appeared to have started in ornamental vegetation near Strathern St, then was fueled by wind several blocks to the south across Blythe, Arminta, Elkwood and Ingomar. A post-fire survey has revealed that two homes sustained minor fire damage, and four out buildings were damaged or destroyed. LAFD Firefighters were on scene just three minutes after being dispatched and acted quickly to prevent this situation from becoming much worse in the warm/windy conditions. Please remember to review #ReadySetGo and be very cautious with sources of ignition, as this January weather of 87 degrees F, 10% humidity, and wind up to 35 mph is dangerous and unforgiving.
